I agree with Dave and Benzig. Very good food. Last night we had pint of hot & sour soup, spring egg roll, pint of lo mein, and pint of chicken w/mushrooms for $17.00.
Have been going to Mr. Wang's restaurant since the early '80s. Have never had a bad meal. Usually go for the lunch combo which is served to 3pm. Yesterday arrived after 3pm and had the New York combo which is served from 3-5pm. Ordered my usual, Ma La Chicken with hot & sour soup, plain fried rice and the biggest, tastiest, egg roll ever. Wow, everything was fantastic! Tony is always there and always talkative and friendly. There is only one waitress but she is very good and very attentive. My only complaint is that I live 40 minutes away, otherwise, I would be eating here 1-2x weekly. In addition the interior is among the nicest and cleanest of any local Chinese restaurant.
Their chicken fried rice is delicious. Very flavorful and no need for extra sauce or seasoning of any kind. The owner was there and his wife was super kind. As others mentioned, it’s a pretty outdated, but who doesn’t love a good dive? I will definitely go back!
The last time I went to Tony Wang's, I observed an employee walk directly out of his toilet stall and into the kitchen. He did not wash his hands. I refuse to go back.
Restaurant is dated but food is excellent!
Wow, I travel for work all over the country and drove past Tony Wangs and decided to try it. It is 1 of my now favs in the country. From the hand rolled won ton soup , fried rice and orange beef it was all amazing. I am a foodie and I'm going to miss this place until I return!
The service was great.. the food was good.. the bathrooms need some help, it was like a truck stop horror movie bathroom..
Always pleasant service and good food!
Delicious, high quality Chinese Food! The menu is large as are the portions. Prices are very reasonable too!Highly recommended.
Excellent food. Great service Reasonable prices.Nice people.
Amanda was very nice to us... Food was very tasty !!
Excellent service! And the food is amazing... I have lived in Lancaster, pa for 27 years and there is no comparison. Great for dine in and take out.
Best old school Chinese place in central pa. We drive from Harrisburg just for this place. Too many so called fusion and buffet place's with average Chinese food.
I'm sad because this place used to have the best shrimp lo mein in Lancaster. Flavorful, fresh, good shrimp and good sauce. Unfortunately they've gone down hill. Ordered large shrimp lo mein and it tasted completely off. Shrimp so mushy you couldn't recognize they were shrimp plus they looked like they had a white film over them. Noodles were extremely dry and tasted old. Egg rolls were also cold although they were very big and flavorful. Gave 2 stars because they were once spectacular, however old food and near rancid shrimp is completely unacceptable.
Forever the best Chinese food in Lancaster. The wonton soup is so good. The noodles are silky smooth and thin. I've been going for years and the consistency is top notch.
Always love Tony's. They are fast and give you plenty of food. My family usually does takeout and Tony always hands us our food and chats with us. It's your typical American version of Chinese food as far as taste.
Still the best food, portion sizes and service. Loved this place from my first visit 25 years ago.
Skip the buffets, this is way better. Super helpful staff. Great lunch value. Good recommendations (we wanted dishes with lots of veggies). Great food, quality and flavor. Szechuan dishes were well prepared. Good hot and sour soup.
My dad recommended this place. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was absolutely impressed once I went inside. The style is a little outdated but everything is clean and neat. Our server and the manager were really kind and accomidating and the food was delicious. Found a new spot to frequent for sure. I highly recommend trying it out if you have not yet.
Nice place with nice staff, pretty good food, and good prices.
Have not been here for many years and this evening thought we would try to get a lite dinner. We ordered crispy sesame chicken. It was so dry & loaded with fat & hard pieces of gristle. I could not cut one of the pieces with the steak knife they gave me ! Very disappointed and when we told them, they did comp our chicken. They pork fries rice was delicious. Not sure if we will give it another try or not ?!?!?!
Not authentic but ordinary Chinese restaurant and from the outside it looks like a shack.
Great Chinese food and the staff are wonderful. Been going here for years.
Great authentic food made to order
It's a decent Chinese place, nothing really note worthy beyond their egg rolls.
Ordered the Happy Family & General Tso’s and it’s the best around! Definitely highly recommend for everyone!! :)
Old style joint ..very good food
One of Lancaster's "best kept secrets" I have lived in Lancaster my entire life and Tony Wang's has always been my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Such friendly service, delicious food, and you can always count on Tony to be there to greet you with a smile. Yeah, location seems a bit sketchy and the decor hasn't been updated in years, but that is all part of it's charm and what makes it special. I hope they never change a thing.10/10 would reccomend.
Our family has traveled all over the world and this is by far the best Chinese ever. We have been coming here for years since my mom had a bed and breakfast in the area. Service is excellent, food is always great and plentiful. Won ton is like no other! Don't let the exterior fool you. I believe that they are not the owners..therefore they may have no control.
From out of town , best customer service I have seen in a while ! To top it off food was great!!!
Great food and friendly service!
Great food, and the Tony Wang Family couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. Despite what you may have read in the news, Tony Wang’s is not closing. They are looking for a new location, but they are open for business! They place doesn’t look like much. The outside of the building is run down, since the landlord is trying to sell the property to a developer, expecting the building to be torn down. But do t let that keep you away. It’s a great lunch stop. I had sweet and sour pork with fried rice, egg drop soup, and Chinese tea, and my whole check was only $7.16!!
Based on other reviews we looked forward to trying Tony Wang's, but unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with the food. The restaurant facility itself has been neglected and adds to the disappointment. I don't think we'll go back.
Fast friendly service. Delicious food. Large portions, low price. All three of us enjoyed their lunch meal. We ordered General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken and Mushrooms. I will dine here again next time I am in town.
Most disgusting place I have ever been before. They got a health code violations for having cockroach likes insects near food and on the ground. Just don’t go save your the hassle.
Moved away from Lancaster County two years ago. Came back for a visit. This was the first place on our "must do" list. We cannot find any Chinese restaurant in our new home area that even comes close to Tony Wang's. Flavorful food and great service.
A lot of mixed reviews for here, but I have been giving Tony my business for almost 10 years and I have never had a bad meal. Tony, the owner obviously, has been making all the sauces from scratch since day 1. He only uses Perdue chicken and local pork and beef. BEST CHINESE!! don't let the "dive" look and 80's pink wallpaper scare you away, they are not about the looks of the place, but the quality food you get, and if you worry about how your food is cooked, you can watch the cooks in the back through the giant window into the kitchen.
This place is old school delicious. The owner is always there to greet you and make sure everything is at its best year after year. If your looking for 20 foot lions outside the door with high prices go to the mall. If your looking for awesome Chinese in a friendly family owned restaurant with family friendly prices go here!
My father was taking us to eat to a Chinese place and we saw Tony Wangs. From the outside it looks horrible, there was trash, and it looked dirty and really creepy. My mother said it looked like a witch place with the dragons painting. And reading some of the bad reviews from Tony Wangs scared us. We decided not to go in.
Of all the things I miss about living in Lancaster, Tony Wang's is my most missed. Tony is a Lancaster OG. The restaurant has remained nearly identical to when I can remember eating there as a child in the late 80s and early 90s. Do yourself a favor and stop eating at every other Chinese restaurant you eat at. This is the best. The tops. There is nothing served here that isn't made with attention, detail, flavor, love and warmth. If you're able to catch Tony up front, he's always happy to chat with you and is one of the kindest souls in all of Lancaster. Eat here now!
My wife and I look forward to eating here. To the tourists, it looks run down. Well, it kind of is. However, the food is really good and consistent. You will almost always see Tony at the restaurant seating customers and mingling. If you drink some of your water be prepared to have it filled right back up. Try and find service like that, anywhere. Prices are great and menu is extensive.
If well made Chinese food is what you want, this is the place. If you are looking for an exquisite exterior, go someplace else. Tony presides over a team of chefs whose mastery of the wok is second to none. One end of the kitchen is a huge window, so you can watch your meal being made if you wish.
Absolutely wonderful. The service was so friendly and the food came out quickly. Best brown sauce I've ever had.
I've be going here since I was a kid. The only thing I can speak on is the General Tso's chicken. I have yet to find better General Tso's. Even living in Elizabethtown now, if I want good Chinese chicken I go here.
The best chinese restaurant by far love the fried flounder with brown sauce bin a customer for over 20 and even though I don't live in Lancaster anymore I always drive down to eat there, only chinese restaurant me and my family and friends go to. Tony is the best
Going here for 19 years best Chinese food in Lancaster and the best egg drop soup i have ever had.
Thought the food here was disturbingly disgusting it was stretchy and bland. It’s not the best Chinese in Lancaster so please go somewhere else.
Very hard to beat the food...I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner .
Great Chinese cuisine hiding in plain sight! Cheerful, happy staff, great portion sizes and prices too. Beyond pleased! Came from Frederick and was NOT disappointed. Best brown sauce I've had.
Every time I gone there, they have had great food and great prices! People talking about cockroaches is just BS. Don't let that stop you from enjoying a real good Chinese restaurant. The proportions are amazing for what they cost. And with that it is The best Chinese food I have had in a very long time.this restaurant definitely deserves five stars and that's what I'm giving them. Take my word for it and eat there one time and you will be hooked!
